To provide a platform for Christians to encourage, inspire, and motivate one another through written devotionals on Christian living and spirituality, amazing testimonies, and encouraging quotes.
Who Are We?
Hi, and welcome to 2PraiseGod. I am thrilled that you’ve decided to learn a little about our history. I’m a regular guy living in America with a heart to help people live a better life. The vision for 2PraiseGod came to me spring of 2009 in my bedroom, and by the summer of June 4th 2009, we went live from my kitchen in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The vision for 2PraiseGod was simple. To share testimonies and praise reports, and to inspire others to do the same all while leading people to Christ. Through time and hard work, my vision for 2PraiseGod has become a reality. People all over the world are ministered to and blessed by amazing testimonies here at 2PraiseGod.
Since 2009, 2PraiseGod has evolved. I’ve introduced “Inspirational Readings”; a devotional section purposed with inspiring and motivating Christians to live their best life. We do so by discussing real issues on real life subject matters.
Our purpose for existence is summed up by one scripture. “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing” (1 Thessalonians 5:11, NIV).
Despite my flaws and imperfections, God decided to use this broken clay for His glory. What a humbling feeling. I must be honest; life hasn’t been easy for me. I’ve experienced mountain highs, but I’ve also experienced valley lows. I’ve experienced some pretty dark moments too. However, instead of complaining about life issues, I’ve decided to write about them and encourage others. Innately, I’m an encourager. I’m wired to encourage others and to help them see the positive in difficult situations. I’m also a motivator. I help others to see the best in themselves and encourage them to achieve their maximum potential. This is the gift of exhortation at work within me.
I would describe myself as amicable, easy going, loving, caring, geeky, at times goofy, reserved yet assertive, intellectual, spiritual, and a conversationalist to say the very least. In addition, I’m very inquisitive. Religion teaches us not to question things, however life taught me to question many things. I’ve questioned why we do the things we do, believe what we believe, practice certain traditions and customary behaviors at church, I’ve questioned the Bible, and even God. Yes, I’ve questioned it all, and truth be told, you probably have too. However, in my questioning, God has shown Himself to be real.
I’m a Progressive Christian. A Progressive Christian is one “characterized by a willingness to question tradition, acceptance of human diversity, a strong emphasis on social justice and care for the poor and the oppressed, and environmental stewardship of the Earth” (Wikipedia). Thus, as a Progressive Christian who’s also gay, I believe in the inclusion of all people, including those of all sexualities and gender identities.
Understand that my sexual orientation is just a fraction of who I am; and while some may dispute that a Christian can also be gay, the truth of the matter is that gay Christians exist. We’re no different from you or anyone else. The same God that loves you, loves us.
In closing, I want leave you with a quote spoken by Jesus. He said, “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:30-31, NKJV). God bless you!
