Don’t Be Weary In Well Doing

by Naquan on June 29, 2009

We all have an assignment from the Lord.  Oftentimes when the Lord gives us an assignment, we’re excited about it.  We get excited about doing the Lord’s work, however, somewhere along the lines of doing this great work, we get weary.  We start to forget what the good work of Jesus is all about, we get tired and restless. Along the way, many go from doing the great work of the Lord with joy to doing the great work of the Lord without the Lord.  So now, we’ll smile, work, pray, go to church, feed the homeless, etc but emotionally and spiritually, you withdrew from the task at hand; so it’s no longer great works just daily routine.

We must make a conscious decision each day to not be weary in well doing.  God has chosen you to do a mighty thing and you should rejoice doing it.  During the times when you don’t understand how something is going to get done, don’t get weary.  I know it’s not always easy as I’m learning myself to have joy in the Lord and to trust him completely; however, know that before God has given you your assignment, He has worked everything out for your good and to the glorification of His name.

Today, I share this with you because the Lord used someone to share this with me.  One of the things I pray to the Lord is doing all the things assigned to me to the glorification of His name only.  I also pray to God for joy while doing it.  I never want to do an assignment with the wrong heart, selfish intentions or just because I have too.  The work of the Lord is good, so if it’s good, why should I be weary doing it?

For many of us, God has given an assignment with a promise attached.

  • Do ____ and your children will be saved
  • Pray every day at noon and your spouse will be saved from drug and alcohol addictions
  • Feed the homeless and I will bless your household abundantly
  • Leave your workplace, work for the Kingdom of God and I’ll place wealth and prosperity upon your household

And the list goes on.  I want to encourage you today and let you know to wait on the Lord. Even if you did all that the Lord assigned for you to do and still haven’t seen what was promised manifest yet, don’t be weary; for in due season the promises with your name on it will manifest.  God is not a God who shall lie.  The Bible states “let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up” Galatians 6:9.

My message to you today is to do the work of the Lord with joy, don’t be weary in well doing.  Know that with everything God has assigned to you, provisions were made on your behalf before the foundations of this world, so don’t worry about how, when or why.  If you find yourself weary and doing the work for the Lord without including God, stop what you’re doing and pray.  Ask God for His forgiveness and to fix your heart and He will.

In addition, if God has made you a promise and you’ve yet to see the manifestation of it, don’t be weary.  Know that with obedience comes harvest.  Every seed planted and watered by God reaps a harvest on God’s timing, not our own.

Scriptures To Remember

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”  – Galatians 6:9

“But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.” - 2 Thessalonians 3:11-13

Thank you for this message. It hit the spot. I just got out of the hospital yesterday and I was a little blue. Your message gave me the message and reminder which I needed.
