Praying For the Youth

I was at Bible study and today we learned about the beatitudes.  I enjoyed it very much, however; what really got to me was what proceeded after Bible study.  Testimonies were given by the members of the church.  Many of the testimonies were testimonies of how the Lord has given strength to those who lost a loved one.  Though I didn’t give a testimony tonight, I was touched by the ones that were given and was moved by them.

Following the testimonies was prayer request.  An elder at the church (who I really admire) asked us to pray for her family because they just experienced a lost in the family.  The lost was of a person who was in their early twenties.  Out of respect to the family, I’m not going to state how this person passed, but I was definitely moved by it.

Today, we’re living in a world where people are dying every day and many times it’s due to drugs, dangerous addictions, shoot outs, etc.  I can speak on this because I myself am young.  Being young, a Christian, 21 and an African American male isn’t easy.  The youth in general has to face a lot of things parents typically seek to shield their children from.  I don’t want to ramble, but I ask that you pray for the youth. Pray for our strength, pray for the Lord to guide us.  If you’re a parent, ask the Lord to keep a shield of protection around child or children, ask him to cancel any and all plans the enemy is plotting on your child or loved ones.

The bible tells us that when two or more people come together in Jesus name, He will be in the mist – well though I’m not physically there with you, I’m there with you in spirit.  With that being said, please say this prayer with me:

Lord Jesus, please forgive me and cleanse me of my sins.  Father, I put in a special prayer for the youth.  There are so many things the youth is faced with, especially in these last days.  Lord I ask that you protect the youth.  Place your angels of protection around them.  Stop any and all plans of the enemy.  Father, for those who turn to drugs, violence, dangerous addictions, prostitution, the streets or any other thing other than you… I ask Jesus that you change their hearts and help them to replace those things with a desire to have a relationship with you.  Please reveal yourself to those who seek your face.  Cover us all in your blood Lord.  I pray and ask these things –believing Father by faith that you will do these things. Thank you Lord in advance. In Jesus name, Amen.
