Much of my life I stared at the forest
unable to see the trees… blinded (struggling)
Swept away, planted in shallow materialism
entangled in the snares of addiction (running)
On a scavenger hunt for love through lustful terrain
sampling every common thing (searching)
Hanging from weakened limbs
soon broken by heavy burdens (falling)
I found myself on the edge of a cliff,
glancing back [...]

growing pains
is what remains
sometimes I resist it all
but then I hear you call
you wait until I do
to give it up to you
internally heavy
as if the breaking of a levee
can’t hold it in
where do I begin
on my knees I go
growing is painstakenly slow
as if a sifting away
of debris that can’t stay
so that I may be cleansed [...]

Saint Mary, a virgin
Though life begun was not certain,
Her Son yet to gain
Of one measure…
Jesus, risen from death
Though our life wasn’t spiritual,
It’s now eternal
Of one measure…
Jesus Christ, our Savior
Though we now live from sin to sin,
Our favor begin
Of one measure…
Angels, spirits with us
Though our own lives come crashing down,
Companions are known
